What Is the Load State Tested by the Empty Load Tester

The load state of a transformer refers to the load it bears during actual operation, which reflects the working condition and health level of the transformer.

Copper loss (also known as wire loss or resistance loss) is the energy loss caused by the current passing through the winding of a transformer during the transmission of electrical energy. It is one of the main components of the total loss of transformers. When current passes through the primary and secondary windings of a transformer, Joule heating effect (i.e. heat is generated when current flows through a conductor) is generated due to the resistance of the windings, resulting in energy loss. Copper loss directly affects the efficiency of transformers, and the smaller the copper loss, the higher the efficiency of transformers. The heat generated by copper loss can raise the temperature of transformers, affecting their service life and safety, increasing energy consumption during power transmission, and leading to an increase in operating costs.
